Parents & Players,
I remember standing in front of all of you at the beginning of season picnic talking about how quickly the season would go. Never could I have predicted what those 10 weeks had in store. And even though it ended sooner than we wanted, sooner than we believed was fair, and not in the fashion we had hoped, there are so many positives to take away from this year. I will expand more upon this at our end of season banquet, but I am as proud (and really more so) to be head of this program - our parents, our coaches, and our players - as I was those 10 weeks ago. We have a few important things to wrap before the season is officially ended: Uniform Turn-in: All players that attend school at Henry Clay High School should gather their uniform kit, all of it - bags, jerseys, shorts, warm-ups, and pinnies - and return them to Coach Behler's classroom by Wednesday, October 19. Any middle schoolers that still have kits can turn them into the front office at HC. Player Award Voting: We vote for three team awards per team: Most Valuable Offensive Player, Most Valuable Defensive Player, and 110% Award. Once a player turns in their uniform kit they can vote in my room for the awards for any team they played for. Voting will be open tomorrow through next Friday. Player Evaluation Meetings: Finally, all returning players are encouraged to sign up for a player evaluation meeting with me during Advisory or after school to identify areas for growth, set goals, and make a plan of action for achieving those goals. They can sign up for the meetings in person, in my room starting tomorrow. Fundraiser prizes: We had a very successful fundraiser this season, and we haven't yet rewarded those that did a great job bolstering the financial stability of our program. I am working on a date for this over the next week or so as Kelly (the fundraiser guy needs to be here). Banquet: Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 9 at 6pm for the team banquet. More details will follow in a later email. Off Season Workouts: We will be starting an offseason strength, agility, and conditioning regimen this off season beginning around the end of this month. These workouts will be optional and should not be priority over club training but can help to supplement the work you are doing with your teams if the schedules don't conflict. As always feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. Coach Behler |
